Richard W. Sequeira, O.D.

Dr. Sequeira is a fourth-generation San Leandran and attended East Bay schools.  In 1973 he earned a BA in Psychology at the University of California at Berkeley with an interest in physiological psychology.  A Bachelor of Science followed and in 1977 the Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton.  

Dr. Sequeira is therapeutically certified to diagnose, manage, and treat various conditions to the eye.  He provides comprehensive eye examinations and fits many types of contact lenses: rigid gas permeable and soft astigmatic, bifocal, and keratoconus.  Working with children has been an enjoyable part of the practice.  Co-management of Lasik and Cataract patients is also part of the practice.

Memberships include the Castro Valley and San Leandro Chambers of Commerce, the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and Alameda-Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society.  He has been a Clinical Examiner of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, a Kiwanis president and a vice-president of the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Sequeira has been married over 30 years and has an adult son and daughter.
